Amanda Zurla

Age: 17 Years Old

Grade: High School Senior

Amanda succeeds in academics at her high school, where she maintains a 4.4 GPA. She has been in love with photography for most of her life, and thus joined the yearbook staff at school, where she is able to display her talent. Amanda has shown great leadership and hard work in yearbook and has been chosen to be the editor-in-chief-junior of next year’s staff. Not only does Amanda shine in academics and arts, she also has a strong passion for sports. Growing up, Amanda was involved in soccer, softball, volleyball, and gymnastics. Currently, she has been focusing on just volleyball. Amanda carries on her adoration for volleyball as a member of the Mission Volleyball Club 16’s team. Amanda has always noticed the problems others faced in her community and has always wanted to help but didn’t know how. She enjoyed watching the Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards as a kid just so that she could see the other kids of the world who were making the world a better place.

Gabrielle Braganza

Age: 16 Years Old

Grade: High School Senior

4.6 GPA. Outside of school, she enjoys playing piano and drawing, of which she has played in recitals and won various regional awards for respectively. Gaby works at the Kumon Math and Reading Center in Glendora, where she takes on teaching math concepts to children of all ages. From basic addition to the high school curriculum, she helps her students excel at math and even learn concepts that are above their current school curriculums.  During the summer she volunteers at the local Public Library and the Summer Reading Program, where she encourages the young patrons to find and expand their love of reading.  In general, Gaby has a deep love for music and has enjoyed playing the piano for over ten years as well as the violin in the school orchestra. It has been a huge influence in her life, and she enjoys listening to and playing it often. She also has a huge interest and passion for science and loves to research the upcoming trends in the scientific community. With aspirations to be a chemist and a biologist, she dreams of making a mark in this current age of amazing scientific achievement

Emily Lam

Age: 17 Years Old

Grade: High School Senior

Emily has acquired a dedication for her education, sports, and various extracurriculars. In school, she demonstrates an academic passion maintaining a 4.65 GPA, while also playing the viola for the High Orchestra. Emily is also heavily involved in school clubs as she is co-vice president of the school’s speech debate team and is secretary for a science research club called CAS club. In addition, she is also a year-round tournament tennis player and part of the school’s varsity tennis team where she was awarded the 2018 MVP of the year. In her community, Emily volunteers weekly for the local Library in the Homework Buddies programs which offers homework tutoring and volunteers for Hope House which is an organization raising money for those with mental health needs. In the future, she hopes to get accepted into a university with a good pre-med program as she aspires to become an anesthesiologist

Emily Millward

Age: 17 Years Old

Grade: High School Senior

Always pushing herself in her education, Emily is enrolled in multiple advanced academic classes. Along with her academic classes, Emily expresses her love for music through joining her school orchestra, where she plays the violin. Outside of the classroom, Emily plays soccer for the High School where she was on the JV team for the 2018-19 season. On the team, she plays as a midfielder and a forward, where she continues her love for soccer on her club team, Foothill Storm. Through other methods of volunteering, she was able to give back to her community but not in the ways she thought. She wanted a volunteering experience that was like how she grew as an individual through academics and sports

Emma Barrosa

Age: 17 Years Old

Grade: High School Senior

Outside of school activities and My Little Sunshine, Emma is involved in California’s Youth and Government where she writes legislation and debates in front of her fellow civically-active peers to make a change in their community. This year she wrote a bill, mandating that all government vehicles be zero-emission by 2025 in order to combat global warming. Emma is passionate about positively impacting the world and, through organizations like My Little Sunshine and California’s Youth and Government, she believes it is surely possible.

Emma Hernandez

Age: 17 Years Old

Grade: High School Senior

Emma Hernandez, Vice President of Ambassadors for The Little Sunshine Foundation is a Sophomore at Glendora High School. Emma is involved in various clubs on campus and is a part of the Varsity soccer team. Having played competitive Club Soccer since the age of 8 yrs old, Emma has persevered throughout the years, pushing herself to get to the next level. She has recently accomplished her goal to play soccer at the Academy level with LA Premier Futbol Club. Emma has a passion for helping others, she has volunteered at the Glendora Library, reading to young children. At a local pet store, caring for different animals. And at Covina Hills Sports Medicine, assisting staff with patient care. Emma understands that only hard work, resilience, and perseverance can get you to where you want to be in life. She hopes to become a DPT- Doctor of Physical Therapy in the future and to work in the specialty of Sports Medicine.

Evelyn Huang

Age: 17 Years Old

Grade: High School Senior

An outgoing high school student whose passions involve the entertainment business and the humanities. As an extrovert, she enjoys meeting new people whenever she can and thrives off of social interaction. She has been to over nine nations, mostly on short-term missions trips where she volunteered for the destitute in third-world countries such as India. At School, Evelyn has been in the acclaimed show choir program as a member in the advanced women’s choir for over two years. She has been in the school district’s choir program since fourth grade, including Sandburg Middle School’s advanced mixed show choir for three years. Outside of school, Evelyn is incredibly active at her church, Epicentre Pasadena, and their youth group, Radiant. She is on the Core leadership team for Radiant; She has been leading worship at her youth group for almost four years, which includes planning song sets during the week and leading the youth worship band almost every Friday. Evelyn also auditioned and got accepted in August 2018 to the Sunday adult worship team as a vocalist and guitar player. She is currently the youngest and first youth member on the Sunday team

Emma Perez

Age: 17 Years Old

Grade: High School Senior

She is currently involved with the school through soccer and orchestra. Constantly challenging herself, Emma is enrolled in all advanced academic classes. When not occupied with Little Sunshine, she spends her free time playing soccer for her club team, Foothill Storm. She remembers all that the community did for her and wants to be able to help those who are less fortunate and don’t have all the resources required to develop in the literary and sports departments. Through Little Sunshine, Emma wishes to make a positive change in someone's life and help better the community. Emma plans to attend a university to pursue her career in Law.

Jay Vobecky

Age: 18 Years Old

Grade: College Freshmen

Jay is a junior at Arroyo Pacific Academy.  Having played baseball, basketball, and soccer since he was 4 years old, he understands the importance and influence sports affects the youth.  He believes playing sports provides the participants with opportunities to develop skills in communication, teamwork, leadership, and responsibilities.  Jay joined the ambassador program to help his peers that could not otherwise afford the equipment or fees to play.  He believes everyone should have the opportunity to play sports. 

 

In his spare time, he enjoys listening to hip-hop, playing video games, watching Marvel and DC movies.  He looks forward to attending a university in the fall of 2021 to pursue a major in music where he hopes to become an audio sound engineer producer.

Kylee Vergo

Age: 17 Years Old

Grade: High School Senior

Kylee is a sophomore at Glendora High School in California. She is in the schools orchestra and also on the volleyball team. She joined the foundation because she feels its one of the best ways to contribute to her community as a teenager while also growing her character. She plays at Pacific Juniors Volleyball Club on their 16-1s team. She has been playing club since sixth grade and continues to enjoy the sport.

Marissa Lepe

Age: 17 Years Old

Grade: College Freshmen

Marissa is someone who shows maximum effort in everything she does, along with a highly energetic spirit. She is and enthusiastic and dedicated student. Marissa strives to set high goals or herself and works 110% to achieve them while assisting others with their own goals along the way. Marissa is a positive, kind, and empathetic young lady. On her spare time she volunteers in libraries and provides aid in the classroom as a teacher’s assistant. Marissa runs Varsity in Track and Field while also playing for the High School Soccer team and Foothill Storm Soccer Club. Marissa strives to keep her perfect Attendance throughout her high school career while also maintaining a 3.8 GPA.
